Kilpatrick, Adultery And The Apology

This is video is of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, apologizing to the citizens of Detroit, his kids, and wife for the extramarital affair that he had with his chief of staff Christine Beatty. Beatty has resigned from her position (job). Kwame Kilpatrick has cheated on his wife before with other women in the past. He said that he and his wife had worked it out. Now he has been caught cheating withChristine Beatty. This was very painful for his wife Carlita. Carlita Kilpatrick is also on the video, and she supports her husband. The public humiliation that she endured is very painful and emotional. I hope her and the kids get through this.

Kilpatrick loses voter support, poll shows   February 2, 2008 By DAWSON BELL FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER   Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s popularity with voters has declined sharply in the wake of revelations that he lied under oath about an extramarital affair, with only 25% of those who voted in the last mayoral election supporting him today, according to a poll released Friday. Fifty-three percent of those surveyed said they would vote against Kilpatrick and 17% were undecided, according to the poll of 300 Detroit voters by Denno-Noor Research and the Rossman Group. But the voters were about evenly divided on whether Kilpatrick should resign: 43% said he should; 40% said no. Kilpatrick had the least support from older people and women, pollster Dennis Denno said. The survey was conducted Thursday. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.8 percentage points. Kilpatrick’s plunge in approval comes a week after the Free Press first reported on text messages between him and then-chief of staff Christine Beatty, indicating the two were having an affair and lied about it during a 2007 trial over the dismissal of two Detroit police officers. The city settled the case shortly after the trial in a deal that cost the city about $9 million. Beatty resigned Monday. Kilpatrick publicly apologized in a televised address Wednesday evening, but did not address any specifics.

I always thought it was something non trusting about Mayor Kilpatrick. He is sad because he got caught. You can see the sadness in his wife face. The woman he cheated with is lighter in skin color and is slightly more attractive. This is so sad, I think that he ruined the chances for another young mayor to be elected to the Detroit office.

  2. Chance

You are right Denise, the wife has to be in some emotional pain, and with the woman being lighter in skin tone that makes it even more painful. I hope Carlita (the wife) makes it through this.

hmmm, applying this logic I guess it’ll be next to impossible to elect another latino mayor of Los Angeles because of Villaraigosa’s affair, and a white man can forget about being mayor of San Francisco because of Newsom’s hanky panky with his assistant’s wife. After good ole Gary Condit left office didn’t a white man replace him even though he’s suspected of murdering Chandra Levy and had a string of affairs? A white man became governor of Arkansas and another one followed Clinton into the Oval Office behind his string of affairs so why should ALL black men be tarnished behind Kilpatrick’s shenanigans? How silly.

All of these men regardless of their ethnicity caught some criticism for their sexual misconduct. Kilpatrick had cheated on his wife before and got caught, and now he has gotten caught again. He probably told his wife the first time he got caught baby I will not cheat on you again — but he has cheated on her again and look at the emotional pain she is going through because he had cheated on her before.
